Shoreline Cleanup Success: Town Brewery’s Commitment to Sustainability
Town Brewery recently organized a successful shoreline cleanup in partnership with Ocean Wise, a global conservation organization focused on building communities that take action to protect and restore our oceans. Lake Ontario is not an ocean, but the Whitby shoreline is an important part of Durham Region’s waterfront and needs regular maintenance to stay clean. This was the second time this year Town Brewery had a community shoreline clean-up in the shadow of their summer pop-up location, the Pump House, and from the number of garbage bags picked up, it was a huge success. For Town Brewery, these events not only foster a cleaner environment but also strengthens their ties with the Whitby community.
Bringing the Community Together for a Cleaner Shoreline
Adrian Clarke, Brand Ambassador from Town Brewery spearheaded a dedicated team in the shoreline cleanup. “This event highlights our company’s united commitment to preserving a pristine shoreline for everyone to enjoy,” said Adrian. “These cleanups serve as an opportunity for us to set an example of sustainability and responsible stewardship of our natural resources and by organizing these events twice a year, we aim to make a lasting impact in Whitby for residents and visitors alike,” he adds.
Ocean Wise and Town Brewery: A Partnership for Environmental Stewardship
The collaboration between Town Brewery and Ocean Wise is founded on a shared vision of safeguarding our natural environment. Together, they strive to maintain a safe and clean waterfront that benefits both the community and its visitors. The ultimate goal is for a healthier marine environment. Ocean Wise provides numerous opportunities for community members to get involved in ocean cleanup events, fostering widespread participation in protecting marine life and its habitats. The great turnout at the cleanup event underscores the community’s active engagement and commitment. And Adrian was elated with the response. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants who joined us in this important effort. Their dedication to keeping our waterfront clean is invaluable, and we look forward to continuing this initiative with the community in future events. We encourage everyone to stay engaged and participate in future events. Together, we can ensure the beauty and safety of our shoreline for generations to come.” And speaking with Adrian afterwards he mentioned that a possible third shoreline cleanup before the end of the summer. Stay tuned for that one.
